Would you prefer to be learning French or Spanish? These are the 5 main reasons every student should consider when they need to make their choice
This post is all about Learning French or Spanish
Learning French or Spanish is a difficult choice to make. I had no choice but to go for English, but when it came to choosing for my 3rd one, I made a mistake that you can avoid.
Whether you will be learning French or Spanish at school with so few hours given to do that will be a challenge but this post will make you understand that learning French could be the best decision you will make in your life so far.
After you read the 5 insane reasons that make learning French or Spanish an easy dilemma, I am sure you will jump through the roof for choosing French
LEARNING FRENCH OR SPANISH
1. Our neighbors.
Mexico
Mexico is a treat. I love it and to travel there is really nice… except for the fact that it’s pretty unstable at times. If you prefer to feel safe, I would suggest you taste the mangoes in San Diego.
Quebec
Instead, Quebec is a lot more attractive in summer. Everyone there speaks English too in case you are lost and your second language still needs some polishing. It’s very reassuring.
2. Your trip to Europe
When my daughter was 8 we brought her to Paris and after a couple of days, we asked her what Paris meant for her. She said: there is a lot to see. For its place in the middle of western Europe, Paris is the perfect place to set camp. You can reach all the major capitals in no time from Paris using the bullet train. You start with the baguette, you finish with the camembert. And you don’t want to miss the nighttime pick-nick at the Eiffel Tower. Truly, romance is everywhere. Devore the best crepes in the corner, sit and French kiss at a café.

3. Job opportunities.
Not necessarily in a francophone country. In America. It’s great to speak Spanish but it’s saturated. When you know French, it opens the doors to a lot of opportunities nobody can see. I met a young girl who had learned French at school and she landed a job in the television industry because she could help the company conduct their research on French series. It happened by accident but when she chose to learn French or Spanish first, she made the right decision. A little fancy line on your resume.
4. The cultural opportunity
Yes, It looks cool on the resume. It’s another world a little more mysterious that opens to you. You will know things that not everyone knows. It will make you more attractive. The Spanish culture is omnipresent in the US, especially on the west coast and in the south. The French culture is much less spread. It’s an advantage, not a disadvantage. You have less opportunity to cross its path other than open yourself to it through its language approach.
5. The language approach
I BELIEVE THAT IN ORDER TO LEARN FRENCH BETTER, COMFORT AND SELF-CONFIDENCE ARE ESSENTIAL, THAT IS WHY IN ALL MY FRENCH COURSES I SHOW YOU THESE LETTERS THAT BOTHER YOU FROM BEING THERE WHILE THEY ARE NOT PRONOUNCED. THAT IS ALSO WHY I SIMPLY ASK YOU TO IMITATE ME OVER AND OVER USING A LANGUAGE THAT IS CONTRACTED SO THAT YOU WILL FEEL EMPOWERED WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR YOU TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE FRENCH.
I could talk about many other things but here is the most insane reason why every student must not even question learning French or Spanish: It’s easier to learn to speak French than Spanish.
Compare
In English, there is: I speak, you speak, he/she speaks, we speak, you speak, they speak. Everything ends the same but for ‘he/she’.
But In Spanish, you will have to pronounce all the letters and the endings are different.
In French jparl, tu parl, i/è parl, on parl, vous parlez, i/è parl. The endings are always the same when you speak as you won’t pronounce the last letters. The form ‘parlez’ will sound like the infinitive form ‘to speak’, Parler. It’s the sound of ‘é’ of ‘café’.
Consider the advantage
Do you see what I mean? What you thought was a difficulty, the fact that a lot of letters are not pronounced in French, suddenly becomes an advantage if your focus is the sound. The reason why the visual person who thinks he or she can’t learn a language has done so well in his/her native language is that he/she learned first with the sound.

7 LIFE-CHANGING TIPS TO LEARN FRENCH FAST EVERY STUDENT OF FRENCH SHOULD KNOW

Is time important for you?
….If you typed ‘learn French fast, you are probably not a student. Students know that it will request time. You are caught and you need to learn fast because you have been hired by a French company or you have planned a trip to France. Will you experience the best if you don’t know anything about the language? Because you might be questioning your ability to speak french, realizing it will be much more fun if you can speak French a bit before you go. Most of the apps you can find on your phone will probably be useless when you land there. They just make you feel good before you take off, and that’s it. Well, if you are leaving in two weeks, it’s a little late, but it’s not without a solution…
What is your goal?
…. The important question to ask yourself is: What am I learning French for? If I answer that question, I will be able to decide how I want to learn it. Most people will join a class. We are all consumers and we don’t really question enough. We enroll in a course online without further questioning. That’s where we lose a lot of time. Because most of the known programs will not help you speak and also understand and be understood. Why? Because most of them have not been created by the French. And even If the creators were actually French, they might have been intellectuals whose interest or focus is mainly to write. But you want to speak French.
The French are not the only ones who know the French language but they are the only ones who have been speaking it since birth…

We chose to be selective
….To master the French conjugation online, I propose that you start with the easy part, but not only the easy part. You want to practice the verbs that are most used. Actually, they are the same in all languages. So which verbs, like French verbs, are the most used?
We are going to repeat them over and over. if you have followed me through these live events, you might remember I mentioned several times the quote in ‘the Crown’ that says: we learn through imitation. Right?
At the condition that what we repeat is not wrong. Repeating a million times something that is wrong will not make it right at the end.
Here are the most important verbs to learn
So the French verbs that are most helpful to know because they are most used in the language are the four verbs: to be, to have, to go, and to do. In French, the verb ‘to do’ is used all the time. For example, there is the expression ‘pay attention’, which in French is ‘faire attention’. When in English there’s a verb to express an activity, a lot of activities in French need the verb to do to be defined. For example, to do in French is ‘faire’. We omit the word ‘to’. The verb is only one word. Now, for ‘to wash the dishes’, the French will say ‘to do the dishes’: Faire la vaisselle. To clean the house, Faire le ménage. That doesn’t mean that ‘to wash’ and ‘to clean’ don’t have a translation, but we’d rather use the verb ‘faire’ in these circumstances.
We also use frequently the verb ‘to go’, ‘aller’ in French. But this one is easy if you know English already because it is used to express the future tense like in English. We don’t use it exactly like in English but it’s actually easier. If you want to say ‘I will walk’, in English, you can say ‘I am going to walk’, right. In French, we will say ‘je vais marcher’

Learn French for free:
Listen, I know that:
You can express yourself in French. I know everyone can do it because I can do it, right. I have learned English. However, it was not easy but I did it. I didn’t have the chance you have to be able to learn French online. I did it only in class. And you will learn French faster, much faster than it took me to learn your language.
I also know that:
If you are learning live in a class, Learning French online doubles your chances. In any case, I made that program for you. Show me that you are curious enough to come to the challenge and learn French for free. You will see it’s amazing. You will not know everything you need to know to speak French, of course. I am not going to pretend you can speak like me after 4 days. But I guarantee you will have a fantastic tool at your disposal at the end of the week that will make you know how you can be totally independent.
Finally:
Do you know what is generally missing in the best programs out there, at least the most famous French online courses? Yes, they reward you with points along the way, they find ways to motivate you. And they have to because their program is so long. They will leave you empty-handed at the end and if you want to redo it, you will have to pay again. Moreover, you won’t even have a tool to continue on your own. Please, if there is anyone who has finished one of these programs, let me know if I’m wrong because I have worked 20 years so that I can deliver a program that will not leave you empty-handed in the end.
